Stereoscopic 3D molecular viewing
If you can make your eyes go cross-eyed or wall-eyed,
then you might be able to see Sirius Yellow in 3D.
The molecule is shown below with cross-eyed stereo above
and wall-eyed stereo below, in different sizes in
order to aid practice and facilitate viewing.
Additionally, stacking them in this way creates
an amusing effect. Try both ways of stereoscoping viewing to
see for yourself.
There is another mode of stereo 3D viewing, which
is known as quad-buffered OpenGL 3D, and it is
supported in our PyMOL build. You need special
glasses and a monitor with a very fast refresh rate
in order to appreciate quad-buffered stereo.
Meanwhile, almost anyone can cross or wall their
eyes with some practice, and no additional or
expensive equipment is required for that. Use
what's in your head. Cheers!
There is one more large pair at the bottom.
